Stephon stood just a few feet away from Barack Obama. The president, busy shaking hands, looked right at him. “It was like he was waiting for me to say something,” he said later.

So the 26-year-old Prince George’s Community College student took his cue and spoke to President Obama in his first language: American Sign Language.

“I am proud of you,” Stephon signed. The president, almost involuntary, instinctively, immediately signed back.

“Thank you,” Obama replied.

Sorry about the delay on the annotations for the GMX panel videos. I’ve been sick the last couple of days, and a play I’m working opened this weekend (plus we had tech hell week the last week). College, National Novel Writing Month, etc etc …. are kicking my ass. 

Hopefully this weekend I’ll be free and I’ll be able to get some things done. 

Just a note: Some of the questions that aren’t heard on the camera were things I couldn’t hear either. So … I’ll do my best to make a guess of what was asked based on the reply.
